BATA – The Power of Assistive Technology

The Power of Assistive Technology and the Assistive Technology Miniguide

Recorded: Thursday 14th March 2024, 15:30 – 16.00 (BST)

In this recorded session Myles Piling, Specialist SEND ICT-AT Consultant for The British Assistive Technology Association (BATA) talks about a series of 3 films for schools to use to stimulate discussion and to increase the use of assistive technology in primary and secondary as well as special schools. The films focus on the stories of pupils with SEN and their journey through education and what the impact it has had in their lives. The films can be used for staff meetings, INSET days and school assemblies to show how assistive technology can change the lives of people using it.

Along with the films we are answering the ” What next?” question by providing via NASEN a mini-guide for assistive technology. The 48 page booklet provides the how to implement the technology.

We shall explore the why and how these resources came about and our hopes in their use in schools and CENMAC might wish to use them.
