Assistive Technology and AAC Support for Children and Young People
CENMAC provides specialist assistive technology (AT) and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) support for children and young people aged 2–25 experiencing barriers to learning, communication or accessing the curriculum.
Our specialist team works with children and young people, families and education settings to identify technology that can improve access, communication, learning and independence.
Assessment, Assistive Technology and AAC Support
CENMAC offers a comprehensive service, including:
- Assistive technology and AAC assessments
- Reviews of existing technology and support
- Loans of assistive technology and AAC equipment
- Advice and guidance for children and young people, families and education professionals
- Ongoing training and support to ensure technology continues to meet changing needs
Our approach is personalised to each child or young person. We work with individuals to identify the right assistive technology, communication tools and strategies to help them participate and achieve in education.
Who We Support
CENMAC supports children and young people aged 2 to 25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who are:
- Attending mainstream schools and colleges
- Attending special schools
- Home educated
Ongoing Support and Equipment Reviews
Our support can continue for as long as it is needed. We review both the young person’s support and their equipment at least once a year to ensure that their assistive technology continues to meet their needs.
Where We Work
CENMAC is based at Charlton Park Academy in South-East London.
Our service covers Greater London, supporting children and young people across a number of London boroughs: Bexley, Brent, Bromley, Croydon, Ealing, Greenwich, Havering, Kingston upon Thames, Lambeth, Lewisham, Merton, Richmond, Southwark and Wandsworth.

Do You Live Outside Our Core Service Area?
If you live in Greater London but outside one of the boroughs listed above, we may still be able to support you. In some circumstances, local authorities or schools can fund a private assistive technology or AAC assessment or an individual support package through a service level agreement. Please contact CENMAC to discuss your requirements and find out how we may be able to help.
