Communication Works 2025
Celebrating Assistive Technology in Education
About the Event
CENMAC is delighted to once again be partnering with Ace Centre for Communication Works 2025!
Communication Works (#CW2025 #GetSeen) is a free event providing a platform for our CENMAC students to “get seen” and to celebrate their achievements. It is an opportunity for the SEND community to come together and see first hand how our children and young people access the curriculum and/or communicate using assistive technology (AT) and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
The event gives visitors the chance to see a range of assistive and accessible technology, communication tools, digital strategies and person-centred approaches first hand with a seminar programme featuring CENMAC Advisory Teachers alongside product experts from a wide range of assistive technology companies. Some of our CENMAC students participate in the seminars and demonstrate the technology showing visitors how the technology works in practice.

Keynote Speakers
We are delighted to announce that our keynote speakers for our 2025 event will be Abdi Omar and Khamani Edwards.
About Abdi Omar
Abdi Omar is Founder & CEO of Limitless Minds Group. Abdi is a passionate advocate for disability rights. He is dedicated to sparking conversations and breaking down barriers faced by disabled individuals on a daily basis. He is a motivational speaker, an AAC Specialist and SEND Mentor and Trainer.
Abdi has Cerebral Palsy and uses power based AAC to deliver his inspirational talks. Despite the communication challenges he faces this has not prevented him from having a voice. Abdi has been instrumental in a pilot project of Proloquo Classroom at Charlton Park Academy and has supported many children and young people across Greater London to develop their communication skills via their communication devices. The positive impact he has had on the children and young people he supports has been truly amazing to witness. Abdi wants to enable the children and young people he supports and mentors to #getseen.

About Khamani Edwards
Khamani Edwards is a 17-year-old award-winning entrepreneur and CEO of KJ’s Craft Time, a venture he founded in 2021 to help children reduce screen time, spark creativity, and develop fine motor skills through hands-on activities. His craft boxes explore exciting themes like Space, Dinosaurs, and Ancient Egypt, making learning both fun and engaging.
Born with Dystonia, a neurological condition that affects his mobility and causes involuntary tremors, Khamani understands the challenges of limited dexterity firsthand. This inspired him to create a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Range within KJ’s Craft Time, featuring adaptive tools like easy-grip scissors and non-spill paint pots to make crafting accessible to children of all abilities.
Beyond entrepreneurship, Khamani is a passionate advocate for assistive technology. As an ambassador for CENMAC, he raises awareness about its impact, interviews inspiring users, and has been MC at Communication Works for the past 3 years.
He also serves on the Unloc Youth Board, a youth-led initiative that helps shape programs to better support young people across the UK. Through his work with CENMAC, Unloc, and KJ’s Craft Time, Khamani continues to inspire, educate, and empower others—proving that creativity should be accessible to all.
