Cognition and Learning

In this section you will find assistive technologies which support schools and provisions in adapting teaching and learning to support all learning styles and needs.

Children and young people may encounter barriers to learning when teaching approaches, the curriculum, or assessment methods are not flexible or inclusive enough to meet diverse learning styles and needs.

Learning differences can range from moderate to severe or profound and multiple learning needs. Some learners may also experience barriers related to mobility, communication, or sensory processing when environments are not designed to be accessible. (links to the sensory and physical area of AT may also be useful here).

Specific learning differences (SpLD), such as dyslexia, dyscalculia or dyspraxia, may affect how a learner processes certain information, but with the right tools, strategies and understanding, these barriers can be reduced or removed. By focusing on creating supportive and adaptable learning environments, we can ensure all children and young people have the opportunity to succeed.
