Sensory and/or Physical Needs
In this section you will find assistive technologies to support schools and provisions to make those reasonable adjustments and adaptions to for children and young people with physical and sensory needs.
Some children and young people may face barriers to learning when educational settings are not designed to be accessible or inclusive of those with physical, sensory, or multi-sensory differences. These barriers, which can vary over time, may prevent full participation unless reasonable adjustments can be made.
Learners with vision impairment (VI), hearing impairment (HI), or multi-sensory impairment (MSI) may benefit from specialist support, accessible formats, technology, or approaches to ensure equitable access to education. Multi-sensory impairment involves both hearing and vision differences.
Similarly, children and young people with physical disabilities may require ongoing adjustments and equipment to fully engage in school life. By removing environmental barriers, we can ensure all learners can access the same opportunities as their peers.
