Do your students have difficulty controlling the mouse? In addition to using alternatives such as joysticks and trackerballs, changes to the settings can give greater control.
You can change the mouse pointer size, the speed of movement across the screen and the double-click speed. You can also choose whether the mouse is set for left or right handed operation.
To make changes go to Control Panel > Mouse.
