CENMAC and Me

Supporting staff and students to achieve their full potential since 1968.

Welcome to our weekly CENMAC blog post

CENMAC and Me | by Kamal, a CENMAC student

This week’s blog post has been written by Kamal, one of the wonderful students that we work with in schools all across London. Kamal was assessed by CENMAC in 2011 when he was in Year 2, and he has been a keen user of technology throughout the years. Now in Year 12, Kamal has written this guest blog post to talk about how he uses technology and what his hopes are for the future.

I used my laptop a lot throughout Lockdown due to COVID-19. I was able to access lessons with school while sat at home, I was also able to access the camera to see my teachers and other pupils from my class.

CENMAC have provided me with a laptop for many years now. They always come into school to do any necessary updates, give me training or provide any new accessories that I may require i.e. a wireless mouse.

Because of the condition I have, I cannot write for a long period of time as my wrists and fingers ache. Therefore, using my touch screen laptop has enabled me to type and expand my knowledge of I.T skills. It is also very lightweight, so I can carry it with ease.

I used my laptop a lot throughout Lockdown due to COVID-19. I was able to access lessons with school while sat at home, I was also able to access the camera to see my teachers and other pupils from my class. I use my laptop for researching information in relation to my studies on Google as well as for music production lessons with school.

At the moment I am recovering from surgery, however, I hope to return to school after the Easter half-term and I am looking forward to using my laptop in each of my lessons at school. In the next few years, I hope to attend College and still be able to use my laptop to expand and aid my learning and I hope that in the future I get a job which requires ICT skills as I’m pretty good at it!
